Ok, We are in signs of economic problems...What can we do to promote pool?
Tennis Channel has a full time (24/7) station devoted to tennis, Can this happen for pool? Sponsors could advertise, matches could play continously, 1 minute lessons, live cams of tourneys, interviews, trickshots, etc. let's face it ESPN could care less about pool because of low ratings! It is going to take someone with big money to do a 24 hour pool network that will maybe entice Direct or Dish network, Maybe Accu-Stats could get involved as well! There could also be pay per view events! This could start an interest with the mainstream about pool. Billiard Club TV was a great gesture but it is like the ESPN when can you actually see it!
People make fun of bangers, but these guys pay the rent for poolrooms in desperate times (not everyone who plays tennis or golf can play like Tiger or Nadal!). If pool is not going to be addressed to the public in the way that they can learn or understand it, it will remain a close-nit family of only a chosen few and the rest of the bunch will think it is difficult and lose interest.
So many pros and fans alike wish for greater tourneys and more prize money, In my opinion this is a once again start for the once popular sport of pocket billiards! What's your opinion? I truly wish that something could get worked out and we all don't see an "End of an Era" of a great sport!
