Thats a sweet cue... I wish it was on the trading block. I think everyone but Cornerstone is broke... :)

If I heard correctly, the ivory tip was something Bill Schick did on his cues. Just a touch of added class...I believe that was the purpose.

I suppose Mr. Gilbert liked the idea, and chose to do it on this cue. I have NO clue how the thing is installed on there....but it does look kinda funky (in a cool way). My opinion....since nobody would see the pin tip at a poolroom, it's mainly for the owner's personal taste.
