Q for Table Mechs/Wannabes

On a few GCIII's in my home room the edge of the cushion is not flush to the rail. The cushion sits slightly below the rail level, and consequently certain shots requiring bridging off the rail will endanger your cue (if you care about your cue as much as I do)

So, I was wondering if there is a way to build up the edge of the cushion that contacts the rail before reclothing it. I was thinking along the lines of rubber cement, or caulk...

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Roger

no real good way to do what your suggesting that will last and look good as well as pass everyones approval.maybe the quality control on those tables was out to lunch or the cushions may have sagged a lil bit when they were installed.

Sounds like too many people have been allowed to sit on the tables. The house must fix this first.
The best way to repair the problem with the tables is to replace the rails when it's time to re-cover the tables.

Thanks for the replies.

As I understand it, it's the rail raising and not the cushion sagging from people sitting on it or anything like that. New cushions will not help the situation, because the wood/formica is permanently elevated.

You guys don't think using a little material to fill in the gap between the cushion and rail facing, then clothing over the whole thing will solve my problem? I just need a solution where rail bridges are not causing your cue to scrape against the wood edge.

Thanks again,
Roger

I can't imagine how the wood/formica part of the table would RAISE.

The cloth is held in with a "fir strip" that fits into a notch in the wood behind the rail rubber.
