QR joints have been done out of just about every joint screw to date. 5/16x18, 5/16x14, 3/8x10, 3/8x16 and of course Uni loc. All of the above have been done with a matching brass insert in the shaft. The list is quite long. Even the over seas cues have done it. What is going to be the one most comfortable to you and your abilities is the real question.

If a QR solution is what you want, why not just settle on the Uni-Loc pin?
If your tools are accurate it`s fairly easy to install. Personally I find it easier to do the joint pin hole with a router and a long 5mm endmill.
