Hello everyone, I will be directing qualifiers for the IPT's $2,000 entry fee qualifier at
the POOL ROOM in Marietta, GA on January 27-29.

Prior to the event we want to have several $25 entry fee flight tournaments
to get people qualified for the $2,000 event. The proposed format is below.
(***Everything is based on participation)

However, there is one catch..... We need to pay the IPT in advance for each
$2,000 entry fee we want to give away. Therefore what I need to know is how
many players could we expect to participate.

Please respond to the below question. Thanks, Mj

1. Who Will Play In A $25 entry QUALIFIER At The Pool Room To Win A Chance
To Play In The IPT's $2,000 Entry Fee Qualifier ?

Proposed flight format.
(The below format may change depending upon participation)

The Sat & Sun (Jan, 21-22) prior to the IPT's $2,000 entry fee qualifier
(Jan 27-29) at the POOL ROOM we are going to run eight (8) sixteen (16)
player tournaments on each day. The entry fee for each one will be $25. This
will qualify 16 players each day towards another qualifier event for a total
of 32 players.

On Monday night, Tuesday night, Wednesday night and Thursday day I will run
an additional 4, 16 player qualifier events with an entry fee of $25 each on
each day/night. This will give us a total of another 32 players.

On the Thursday (Jan. 26th) prior to the event we will have all of the
players that qualified from the $25 entry fee flights play off. The top
players in this event or events will get their $2,000 entry fee paid into
the IPT $2,000 entry fee qualifier that weekend.

*****How many players that qualify is based on the participation in the $25
flight events.

PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS ONLY IN IPT FORUM. YOU ARE HERE NOW !

AlSo, PLEASE Answer the question in POST #5.

Thanks,

I will play in the qualifier for the qualifier. I believe that Tournaments like this are what will make this whole IPTM thing work. I encourage all of you that can play 8 Ball with any level of skill to enter these tourneys and play your best. Where else could you have this kind of fun for $25, and test your skill against the best of the best? Best of luck in this venture!

Just out of curiosity.

Who would play in a qualifier event like this (the $25 qualifier events for the $2,000 IPT qualifier events) if they were in your local pool hall ?

I'm sure you'd get a lot of people participating if it were local to them. This is actually a really good idea. It's too bad that there isn't much time to put something together. I think you could even make the entry fee higher and still get a good number of players (enough to pay the entry fee to the qualifier, at least).

I absolutely would. I am sure all of my pool playing friends, I have ever made, would also play if it was local. Even the ones who would stand no chance. I think it is a good idea.

I would come play but I am waiting for one closest (most cost effective) to me and for the 2007 season.

Without a doubt, YES!!!

That sound a great idea Mike, good luck.

I would bet you'll get lots of players queuing up to enter for that amount.

Spinny, are you going to try out for the IPT?

I would

like to compete and I'm sure there are others like me that are willing to take several shots @ $25 a pop to qualify for the qualifier.

I think you're starting a great new concept similar to poker with these satellite tournaments. I know that there would be people in my area that would pay up to $100 to enter a qualifier for the qualifier. Heck, 20 people at $100 a piece is enough to buy one spot.

Look for a banner ad here on AZ that looks like the one below.

I would play if they were having them at HardTimes and probably they could do one like you proposed and raise enough to put several people in the IPT qualifier.

(Let me see, if someone wins the $25 qualifier, then this qualifies them to play in another qualifier to qualify for the qualifier, if they win this qualifier then they are qualified for the qualifier, then all they need to do is win the qualifier and they are qualified. Sounds simple.)

Note: Although this is accurate I am just having fun and I like the idea of qualifiers to qualify for a qualifier to qualify for THE qualifier. The nice thing about this format is it gives some of the great players in an area a chance to save $1975 and there are a lot of players that don't mind contributing to help make it possible by entering even if they don't have a chance to win.

I would for sure... what a bargain that would be for some good competition.
Out of curiousity, how would the poolroom or the promoter make any money in this tourney? It would be played on the 9 footers right? 25 bucks player, doesnt seem like the room could make any money on green fees, but Definately as a player I would love it.

It depends on how many qualifier spots are paid for. In the format of the original post they would collect $6400 and if they paid for 2 qualifier spots at $2000 each this would leave $2400 for the promoter, green fees and any other expenses.

Regarding your statement above. Your numbers are not correct. In regards to the 1st post. If we take in the maximum # of players in each flight we would have taken in $12,800 which would give us 6 entries to give away. (The math is this: $25 X 16 players per flight = $400 multiplied by 32 flights = $12,800).

The events I will be doing at the POOL ROOM are an experiment for a larger project. We are only limited in how many spots we will give away by how long the IPT accepts entry fees into it's $2,000 entry fee qualifier at the POOL ROOM and by the initial participation of the players.

Wayne, you also have to take into account any advertising/promotional and if there are any traveling costs before you could guestimate any profits.
