Question about a Joss Cue

Just wondering the difference in Joss Cues that have the name on the butt or the name on the joint? Is this any sign of age/time period the cue was made? Also, does this effect the value of the cue? I came across one that I might sell on here but wanted to do a little research first. Answers??
