question about a straight pool...

It is still their shot normally you play safe. Hit a ball and a rail.

Sometimes people go for a ball out of the rack, tough shots but if the cue ball is in the right place there are a few shots.

Straight back on the corner ball is one.

So do you have to break and make 2 balls hit the rail again?
 
No, the 2 ball rule only applies on the opening break. After that the regular rules are in effect.

Sorry for being so ignorant but, do you mean when i use the breakout ball and do not hit the rack, i only have to break the rack with only 1 object ball hitting the rail?
 
In the game of straight pool the opening break (the first shot of the match) the cue ball must hit the racked balls and drive at least two object balls to a rail.
After the opeing break the rule is as follows. During the execution of any and all shots including break shots, the cue ball must touch an object ball and after touching an object ball any ball including the cue ball must touch a rail in order for the shot be a legal shot.

Its still your shot even though you missed the rack after pocketing the breakball, unless you called safe before shooting that ball, in which case that ball would go up on the spot and then its your opponents shot. If you didn't call safe, then from there you would play safe, either the cue ball OR an object ball needs to go to a rail AFTER contact. The common shot would be playing safe from there by thinning a ball and send the cue ball to a rail without moving much in the rack.
