question about cue feel/hit

I have a question about my cue's feel and hit. I have been playing pool for about 3 years now on league. Before I joined the league I purchased a Joss "sneaky pete" off the owner wrapless. I forgot my cue for the first time at the pool hall one night a few months later and it got walked off with. After this happened I purchased another Joss off of the owner with a SS joint and wrap which are the only differences I could tell between the cues. I still enjoyed the hit but it feeled different and at the time I know I still preffered the cue I lost. about a week and a half ago I picked up a used predator 314 shaft that fits on the Joss. At first I thought it played great but after shooting around I toss on the original shaft again and it felt as though I was more accurate with it. Now I have just bought a Pechauer (mostly out of vanity and to try a new cue http://www.seyberts.com/pool_cues/cue-model_number-IV3.htm). I understand that the pechauer still may have a simlar hit to the Joss I own.

Now to my main questions. What is it I felt that was throwing me off about the predator 314 shaft. I haven't had a chance to shoot with the Pechauer yet, what might I notice about that cue. What was the feel difference between the Joss with and without the SS joint.

I apologize if the questions don't make much sense. Just trying to figure this game out I guess.

the predator shaft is known for having top notch playability, but being a little lacking in the feel/sound department. being as you have a 314 now i recommend sending it to varney cues on this forum who will mod it and change the tip and ferrule - it will probably feel a hell of a lot nicer. i only suggest this because you have a 314, you might as well try and get to like it because of the benefits having such a high deflection shaft will bring if you can use it.

but it depends where your heart is as well, if you really want as close as possible a hit to your old cue i'd simply say you need to get trying a lot of cues. hit/feel is pretty subjective so you can't rely on descriptions too much.

hope this helps.
