Question about high end sticks

Anybody know of or who makes high end sticks that have a 5/16 X 18 flat faced joint?

I'm specifically NOT looking for a Meucci. Looking for a butt with a sneaky pete type hit, without the sneaky pete look.

I believe GinaCues are 5/16 18

Thanks. Appreciate the help.

Do you know of any nice production cues that use the 5/16 X 18 joint?

The only one that comes to mind is Huebler. You can always get a custom simple Jacoby and specify a 5/16 x 18 for under $500

if youre looking for something that hits like a sneaky pete, im not sure i would be looking at just the joint. I think the actual cue construction would have more to do with the hit, for instance im thinking a full spliced blank would make a cue hit more like a sneaky, than just the joint. You might wanna ask the cuemakers section, they could give you better guidance maybe

I mentioned the 5/16 X 18 joint because I have several shafts that are that size, and want to stick with it. I have two of them that are great and don't want to change them. Going to a different joint means a whole different setup, and I'm happy with what I have insofar as shafts and tips go. Just looking for a good hitting and beautiful butt to put those shafts on :D Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Some of Burton Spain's cues had the 5/16-18 joint screw. If you want a tasty, higher-end product, you might want to search for his stuff. BTW, before he died, he sold his business to a fellow named Joel Hercek. Also, all the old Robinson cues had the 5/16-18 - I had one years ago and it hit real solid. If you can get your hands on a Blue Book of Pool Cues (try your local library first), you'll be in business since most cuemakers list the joint screw specs. Good luck!

I wouldn't say they fall into the "high end", but you asked about production cues with that joint. Schmelke offers a flat-faced 5/16x18

While we're on the subject of joints, I was wondering if anyone knows a good custom cue maker that makes cues with a 5/16x14 piloted joint at a good price. Something like a basic 4 point no inlay cue in the $750 range. I have too many shafts and almost all of them have that joint.

On another note, does anyone know of a cheapo production line that uses that joint?

The ones that I know in 5/16x14 are:
AE Cues
Balabushka
Black Boar
Richard Black
Jim Buss
Espiritu
Predator 2K
Blaze
Schon
Tempest
Joss
Gilbert
ITS George
Hercek
Hightower
Hurricane
Jacoby
Jensen
Josey
Joss West
Mali
Manzino
Mcdaniels
Paul Motty
Nitty
Schuler
Scruggs
Szamboti
Nova
Falcon
Pechauer

In 5/16x18 I found:
Corsair
Falcon
GinaCue
Huebler
Judd
Longoni
Meucci (duh)
Tad
Viking

Found on gameroomusa and seyberts.

Flex - you're in luck. I have 2 sticks that I'm selling that use a 5/16 x 18 flat faced joint, although they're not high end. I think you've seen both.
1) black budweiser cue - comes with a graphite shaft that's great for breaking
2) cue with the water in the butt with the little red floating dice with wood shaft

Let me know if you're interested. The budweiser butt hits really good when used with a decent shaft.

oh by the way, if you're not interested in one of my cues - I'd recommend just dropping the 5/16x18 joint and shafts you have and going with something more "normal" e.g. 5/16x14, 3/8x10, radial, etc. - especially if you get a high end custom cue. Unfortunately, the 5/16x18 joint seems to be looked down upon by the pool playing public.

Cue

Bob Owen for Shurtz custom cues makes them. For
$300 you can get exactly what you are wanting. It
is his low end custom, and you can have most woods,
including coco, bacote, BEM, or whatever.
Go to http://www.Shurtzcue.com
There phone number is 1-316-269-3844, located in
Wichta, Ks.

Sorry, just saw the 'high end'. He makes high end cues
too, like you want.

Need to add Skip Weston to the 5/16 x 14 list. Also, Richard Black used to use a 5/16 x 18 pin many years ago.

And this is coming from someone with a cue with a fish tank in it....:D

There is nothing wrong with this joint type...;)

Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm looking for something with points, cocobolo or ebony, a nice wrap and so on. The butt I'm using now hits great, just want something a tad bit flashy.

I'm happy with the shafts I have and the 5/16 X 18 joint is fine. I've had cues with other joints, among them some of the ones you mention, nothing against them, but why throw away a good custom shaft, a Predator 314, and others just to follow someone else's preferences or current fads?
