Question about McDermott cue repair

I have a McDermott MG-9 cue that went back to McDermott for a new shaft, I called yesterday and went over the details with someone from the repair department (When I ordered the cue, it arrived with a cracked ferrule and a couple of "chips" in the black ring around the shaft joint, I had the local authorized dealer replace the ferrule, and ignored the chips, but then it warped and it was never stored in extreme temps) He verified that it was warped, and he also (free of charge) upped the weight to 19.5 from 18.5, but then told me it would be 2 weeks before I could expect the cue back. Is this their standard "worst case scenario" or will I actually be waiting 2 weeks for him to grab a new 12mm shaft off the rack and throw it in the box?

It's been quite a few years, but I have had new shafts made for my d-17 cue by McDermott. Each time the butt had to be sent in because their joints are not standard. In order to match the joint perfectly they require the butt be sent in. Looks like things haven't changed. By the way, the shafts were perfect and I still have them to this day. Also since your shaft will be 12mm they probably have to make it anyway.

That's probably a worst case scenario, I've never waited the whole quoted time from anything from McD. However, they better not grab your shaft before they finish the ones I sent in.:) Orders get processed in the order they come in and that takes time. McD has alot of retailers to take care of.

Ah, I had forgotten about the fact that McDermott shafts aren't really "off the shelf" because of the joint. I actually got curious and did the research after I got my stick because I wondered what happened if the pin was a half thread deeper/shallower in the butt. Steel into wood has to be VERY precise, so that makes sense. This does work out though, I originally purchased a 13mm shaft and had it turned down to 12.5 because all I could find in stock was 13mm, I was planning on having my shaft turned down to 12 so this will actually save me some money. Thanks for the help and explanation guys.
