Question about my shaft (OB2)

Dear Cue Makers,

I would like to know what you think has cause a particular issue in my shaft, so far the public has not been able to come to a certain consensus on the cause or even what it's called, and I would like your help with this issue.

Please don't see this as negativity towards OB cues, I really really just want to know why, even if it is my negligence, so myself and others can learn from this (this=whatever that thing is in my shaft) and perhaps prevent it (it=whatever happened to the shaft) in the future, either through better care, weaknesses that lead to the necessity of extra care, or anything in general.

(Also, I did not scratch this shaft, whether intentionally or unintentionally, I am 100% sure of this)

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

In your linked post you ask:

"Can someone tell me if OB will warranty this or should?"

Have you asked OB Cues yet? I'd think that's where you need to start.
I'm sorry but I do see this post as negative or at least your intent.
The consensus opinion in the 5 pgs and counting of your linked thread
all pretty much tell you the same thing. CONTACT OB CUES.
You'd be amazed at their customer service if you give them the chance.

I have had 2 shafts ob that came unglued . when I sent it back to them they told me it happened because the store I bought it from changed the tip and didn't put a pad under the tip and they would not fix or replace it,
The shaft was not returned to OB but to the vender that sold the shaft to my customer they are the one who changed the tip before the sold the shaft they are a vender for ob shafts .

So what did shaft maker tell you when you called them?

You wouldn't expect them to repair or replace it if the warranty was voided, would you?

Jerry,

Not wanting to pick a fight, but when a customer brought me an OB shaft to retip, the first thing I did was go to the OB website. They are very clear there that as long as you don't remove their carbon fiber pad, or purchase one of their's and install in under the tip, then the warranty is still valid.

Yes, those shafts are sort of a PITA because they are true carbon fiber pad and it's hard to get cyano to stick, but I did it.

Your beef is not with OB, but with your (non-)repair guy.

Gary

Sounds like you have a bone to pick, but you're going after the wrong people in your thread.
Looks like you should be talking to the shop that re-tipped the shaft. The photos in your original thread don't show a properly installed tip & pad. Sounds like they owe you two OB shafts. You trusted them as "experts" to work on your cue and charged you for it. This is an expensive lesson for them, but if they are professionals, they should take care of you. OB Cues has been around for several years now, and their website clearly addresses how to replace a tip, pad and their warranty if you don't install the pad when replacing a tip.
From http://obcues.com/warranty.html
Things not covered by the OB Cues Warranty include, but are not limited to:
Damage due to abuse or neglect.
Damage caused by playing with OB Cue Shafts without the carbon fiber pad that is placed between the tip and the ferrule.

How to install a tip, from http://obcues.com/retipping.html
When re-tipping an OB-1 you should leave the Carbon Fiber pad in place and just replace the tip itself.

I belive you owe OB cues a public apology and an edit of your original post to note that the issue was with the shop that damaged your cue, voiding the warranty.

But please.... contact the people that did the work on your cue before posting a thread about "Should "X repairs" replace my OB shaft?"

Thanks for quoting JerryCues as me.

They told me to that they'll take a look.

That's all one can ask, I would think.

I also changed my post to make it correct as it was jacked to look like it was your quote when in fact JerrysCues was making the quote. Jerry needs a lesson in hitting the reply with quote button, I suspect.
