Question about SBE

This will be my first time going to the SBE this year. I heard that you can pay $10 and shoot on the tables at the convention center all night. Is this true? and if so is it only for the players entered into the tournaments or can any joe schmo go and play? I tried searching for an answer but couldnt find one. Thanks.

I know this was the case last year, for my first experience at the SBE.. The tables on the lower level were open to anyone who paid the $10. I didn't arrive until Friday, but I played all night on the open tables.

I don't know about Joe Schmo, but any Tom, Dick, or Harry with $10 can get a table from midnight to 7am. You do realize that they're 7' diamond, and not 9' tables. The bar sized tables as rampant as slot machines in Las Vegas, I was expecting to see them in the bathrooms as well.
