I got a beautiful j/b from Kevin Varney a few months ago (hope he's doing ok!). The tip is a canvas resin core threaded into super hard pressed leather. It hits great, but recently I somehow managed to damage the tip. There's a small chip in it, maybe 1mm by 2mm, probably 0.5mm deep or so. It still hits just fine, but I'm worried that it might worsen if I continue to use it, and possibly damage the ferrule or even the shaft if the tip shatters.
Is this something I should worry about? Should I get this replaced, or will it be ok to continue playing on it? Also, since Kevin is out of action for the moment, is this something that any local cue pro could replace? I don't really know much about this type of tip.
Thanks!
