Question for table mechanics....

I have an Olhausen Eclipse pool table.....8 footer. My question is this....is it possible to move the table on "slides" without disassembling it.

We are putting new carpet down and the carpet installer told me that they move them "all the time" using furniture slides. But, he isn't a pool table mechanic. Moving it on them is easy.....whether it messes up the table is the issue.

The slate is three piece....I believe it is 1/2 inch slate.

Probably have to slide it 10 to 15 feet one way and then back.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Simple answer...

NO!

You should NEVER attempt to move a furniture type pool table by "knocking the legs off". The slate screws aren't meant to support the full weight of the slates. They are there to prevent the slates from shifting and to aid in leveling the table.

Also, this is a REALLY good way to destroy your rails and/or aprons and/or pockets.

Also, don't attempt to slide the table.

I recently had to repair all 4 legs on a fairly new Brunswick because the contractors repairing the house decided to put furniture sliders under the legs. They broke all four legs.
