Question to cuemakers

Hello !

I'm very enthusiastic about custom cues and I was wondering if knowledgeable cuemakers in this forum could share some opinions about wood in custom cues. The question is about climate as it is quite dry and cold here in Finland throughout the year. Even is summer it might be very hot but rarely very humid. I was wondering if there is risk of some exotic wood(s) going to through some changes in this climate. Especially if I would buy a cue from a cuemaker in tropical climate area such as the Philippines or Florida etc. Do you think that the cue would suffer from the change to a different type of atmosphere ? Could it develop a slight roll or could the inlays pop out etc. ? And is there a difference between different woods, that some woods are more stabile than others ? Or does the structure of the cue have any effect on this climate issue; different inlays,short/full splice/CNC points ?

Cuemakers who recognize and accept the existance of this "wood characteristic" find ways of countering it. I have had this problem (who hasn't?) and have devised ways to remedy it. How's Markus Juva doing in the EuroTour?

Hello Bandido !

Juva is doing okay, he has multiple top 16 finishes but on my opinion hasn't shown his true talent yet on Eurotour. Should be soon that his relatively slow and meticulous play will start to pay off, but I think he needs a major international boost of confidence soon. Now I haven't seen him for some weeks 'cause he's on a holiday in India, but I'll get back to him when he comes backs.

Btw, your cues are really nice. As you know, Juva has two of them and they play great... tried them a couple of times. And the woodwork is excellent and they look really awesome ! Keep up the good work ! I hope I wasn't asking any trade secrets here, just being a normal curious cue fanatic :-) Take care !

I knew that you've tried Markus" from your RSB post way back. What I'm trying to get across is that you held in your hand the answer to your wood question. Markus' cues were made back in '99 and early 2000.
