I just got my mini raptor in and just wondering about lubrication on the ballscrew and linear rails. They all have fittings but I have never seen the little tiny fittings like on the block for the linear rails. The ballscrew has a zerk type. Do you guys use these fitting for lubrication or just put some lithium grease or something on the screws and rails? What type lube do you prefer for each ? And, what type of gun and or fitting is used for the liner rail fitting?
Thanks

Most small grease guns come with the "business end" (as an additional accessory) for those grease ports. Basically, it's a necked-down tube that you press firmly against the fitting, and the pressure of the grease gun forces the tiny spring-loaded ball valve to open and allow grease into the fitting, and therefore into the area that needs grease.

Any EP2 grease is fine. The rails are TBI, not THK.

I've never had a problem getting ahold of George either on the phone or Facebook messenger by the way.

I'd always suggest asking the maker before anyone else, but what do I know?

He's got a subforum at the CNC Zone and posts there frequently also...

As to lubrication, the travels are pretty short, so unless you cut a lot of abrasive material (like G10/FR4) and don't have some sort of dust collection it would be a long, long, time before you actually do need to add grease. The thing to watch for are the ball nuts. But as long as you keep dust off the screws and rails you should be fine.

First project should be to get some strip brush and make a dust shoe.
