Questions on Exotic Wraps

I've searched the forum and there is no mention of a few of the wraps i'm thinking about getting and would appreciate your input.

I have recently scatched my 2 month old Dishaw down to the wood and need to get it refinished. I will be replacing the leather wrap at this time and am thinking about going to an exotic from the Black Textured Leather that is on it.

Does anybody have experiance with the following wraps. I would like to know how they feel, how well the seem will be hidden, and how long they should last.

- Elephant tail
- Kangaroo
- Ostrich Leg
- Monitor or Ring Tail Lizard
- Shark

Thanks in advacne for all that apply.

I have only used the two Lizard wraps and the Ringtail is a very nice course grippy feel while the monitor or Java lizard feels more like normal leather with a little more grip. They both seam up nice. Mike Webb has done Elephant so he should jump in here about it.

Of all the wraps you mentioned, I like the Lizard and ringtail the best. Not the imitation because it looks just that, Imitation. Shark and elephant also look nice but I still prefer all of the Lizard.

I like sing the Salvator Monitor but only go vertically biased as I hate the uneven feel of the resulting texture of a horizontally biased lizard wrap. Only exception is for the natural colored ringtail lizard where a horizontal bias is the best way to show-off its pattern. I've started using a different reptile skin and its texture's feel is not as rough as a lizard's but not as smooth as cowhide. They're both real easy to work with to make the seams butt up nice and tight.
