Quick change tool holder Mid America

Was thinking about getting a quick change tool holder for my Mid America cue lathe for no other reason than just because.
Looked through some of the old posts where others had looked for, and or bought something like this. One place was highly recommended, with a system just under $200, and then looked as though you should build a riser block also. One person recommended calling your lathe manufacture and asking them what they recommend, so that's what I did. Funny timing, as he was just comming out with a unit, but it wasn't on his web site yet, also included the riser block. Very reasonable price, much less than the other unit recommended, and no need to make a riser block.
Quality wise, I couldn't tell you what the difference is, but for my limited use, it will out live me, and I don't have to worry about justifying the cost. Also fast shipping, at my door in less than a week.

I upgraded to an 0XA about a month ago and made my own riser block. It's a big improvement being able to use more rigid tooling in the toolpost. But I would have waited if I knew mid-america was coming out with his own!

Well, I've played with it for a little bit, and to be honest, I'm just not sure if it's something I actually needed for my use. Wouldn't be the first time I have bought something on a whim, and wondered why I thought I needed it. I guess price was good enough to experiment. I did like that you could easily dial in the bit height.
Will probably sell it if someone is interested. Save yourself about $20 plus no tax and free ship. Check or US postal MO. Established AZ members, ship right away, new members must wait till payment clears. PM for a better picture and price.

The thing that sucks about a qctp on a Taig lathe is that it doesn’t have enough travel to use it for everything you’d like to do with it. I don’t use one on my repair lathe but have one on my CNC setup and I have everything on that lathe on riser blocks. I also know a guy that built a plate that has two cross slides put together so you can have a qctp on one side and a router setup on the other side. My qctp is an OXA.

Little Machine Shop has a qctp for taig (4039) all steel
I bought couple of cheap ones from amazon and made a riser from the square washers for unistrut
Drilled 4 holes and tapped the center hole
Looks like its working ok

Ya, that's the place I was originally going to get from, but almost twice the price, and still had to make a riser block, and I wasn't really sure I actually needed one. For what little bit I thought I would use it, I went this way. For somebody that thinks they might want one, $75 is a steal.

Great price. Someone should jump on that deal.

Because I have many tools I use regularly, I find the quick change is quite helpful.

I'm always having to move my QCTP riser plate around for that reason (which defeats one purpose of QCTP), I like that design in the photo. But the rigidity I get, especially when boring, is great.
