Long time renowned instructor and friend to many, Scott Lee, has passed away from his battle with cancer.

he will be sorely missed.

"Playing pocket billiards is not about gambling. It's about competitive spirit, a desire for excellence, and having fun!" ~~ Scott Lee .

Scott Lee, pool instructor extraordinaire, has passed away. He had a brief battle with cancer. He was always kind to me in our exchanges. He will be missed by so many, I know. May he rest in eternal peace.

Scott Lee has been playing pocket billiards for more than 40 years, and teaching professionally since 1977. He has been a PBIA Certified Instructor since the inception of the program. Beginning in 1995, striving to change the image of pool, Scott has toured 8-9 months of the year, with his Traveling College of Billiard Knowledge shows, entertaining and teaching audiences at colleges, universities, military bases and poolrooms everywhere! -Jennie Ann

i thought he should be remembered here in the instructor forum
he devoted his life to helping others improve their game
my sympathies and condolences to his loved ones
Rest In Peace Scott

Scott and I exchanged many private messages over the last year or so. 😢 He was always helpful and I’m sure that during a single 1:1 in-person lesson I would have learned more than I can learn on my own in an entire year. I suppose I waited too long to engage him in a lesson.

Thanks for posting this notice as sad as it is. RIP Scott.

Terrible news. He chose a tough a path in life, traveling from place to place. It must not have been easy for him often times over the years. I don't know anyone who was more passionate about teaching pool than Scott was; and from what I've read in people's accounts of meeting him over the years, he touched a lot of people's lives. Deepest sympathies to his family and close friends.

What a loss to the small group of Professional Instructors.
Scott was the first instructor I contacted a few years after my mentor passed. Several years later we met for a tune up and Q&A session.
Both times he gave the lesson on a carom table. Didn't care about pocketing balls, just strengthening fundamentals. Learned a lot from Scott.
Lessons were hours long, lots of fun, but serious none the less.

We had a tentative 3rd for when he was in range. Guess I'll have to wait a while for that one.

RIP Scott

No one put more energy into a lesson than Scott. I am so sorry to read this.

" An accurate and repeatable stroke"

RIP Scott

Almost by accident, I connected with Scott about 8 years ago as we had our respective experiences with the late Jack White (anyone else here ever actually met him?).

I think Scott had known Jack as a family friend (can’t remember exactly how Scott couched it). Scott eventually took over Jack’s “college pool tour” years ago, which eventually led Scott to becoming a bonafide pool instructor.

As for me, as a student at the University of AZ, I played Jack White in an exhibition match at the “Cellar” to a packed house

Scott and I met up a few times in Tucson, had a few lunches, and played some pool at a local pool room.

Our pool games were fun, and although he couldn’t keep up with me, he was gracious, and I appreciated his playing tips.
No matter how good one plays, feedback is paramount! because one can always learn something and boy did I!

All I have to say to him is this:
“Thanks, Scott. I will.” (He knows what I mean).
