I just discovered this the other day when I went to my local pool hall the racks in there are plastic so when you rack the balls no matter how hard you try they do not freeze so during one of the racks my little brother decided to rack the balls without the aid of a rack and guess what it worked because 90% of the time I had a fantastic break and was making balls and I reckon that you should all give it a try and tell me what you think.

For a fun experiment, try racking with a different corner of the rack pointing forward each time. Some racks will rack 3 different ways depending on which corner is pointing forward.
Generally the more expensive racks will rack properly. But I have learned that many brand new inexpensive racks will *not* rack properly. And that is with a brand new set of quality Aramith balls.
