Bummer.... I just wrote a book on this cue I have for sale and it was removed (without me being notified and having a chance to correct...) because I listed it as a receiving offers listing. I was just notified by another user (thanks again Bob) that taking offers is not allowed. I did not know that as pretty new to the site. If any admins see anything in my posting that is not in line with the rules, please notify me before taking my posting down and will correct immediately.
Anyhoo, here is a somewhat condensed version with a price posted of $1500.00 OBO.
This vintage 1970's Adam FG-8 or Machete cue is from the same catalog as the Ritz, Monte Carlo & others. It is very rare and even hard to find an example of online. I just happened into an Adam catalog page that had the cue. I also added a pic of this catalog page with the pics of my cue.
I just had a brand new linen wrap in white with green speck (pressed, not polished) put on it as was wrapless when I came into it. Also had a new ferrule and LePro tip installed. All work done by my friend Sheldon Lebow of Lebow Custom Cues in Springfield, OR. He does top-notch work and is a master cuemaker.
The cue has 4 points with 4 veneers, generous MOP inlays & a very distinctive "chain link" inlaid treatment at the shaft collar and joint area of butt. This same theme is at the butt (lower) area also.
The cue has some minor dings and nicks in the finish at the butt and forearm area, but not enough to beg a refin. It looks great as it is. Cue weight is 19 ounces, is 57 15/16" long assembled and tip is 13mm (maybe a hair less as do not have a micrometer and used a metric ruler).
There is a slight/moderate warp to the shaft that I did not find play affecting. I took pics of the shaft at both extremes when rotated on a table for reference. Please factor in that is has a pro taper to the shaft as this affects how it looks rolled on a flat surface. There is also a very minor wobble to the butt. I shot with this cue before having the tip replaced and did not have issues with unintentional english. It feels great and is nicely balanced. Although it is very playable, I am selling primarily as a collectible given age and used condition.
This cue is so rare that it appears that as of this posting, I have the only one for sale on the planet (at least for sale online).
I would greatly prefer to be paid via PayPal Friends and Family as got ripped off with a charge back when I sold a guitar on craigslist a few years back. No complaints or any notice from the buyer and never got my money or guitar back. Never Again. I am a straight shooter and honest as the day is long. If you pay me, I will ship this cue to you right away via UPS Ground insured /tracking to the US Lower 48 only.
If helps, my eBay ID is material-bliss and I have several items listed there. I am listing here first to avoid paying such a high final value fee there (12.5% now...). Please feel free to message me through any of my listings to further see that I am legit. You will also see that the pics of the cue were taken on the same table and table cloth as my eBay items. If you contact me via this posting, I would be more than happy to provide my phone number to you if you want to talk to me personally. I am located in Eugene, OR.
Thanks for taking the time to read all of the above & please do not hesitate to ask any questions you may have. Also, I have extra pics if requested as took more than the 10 allowed here.
ADMIN: please notify me if anything in my posting needs amended per the site rules and will address immediately. Thanks.
