Got it today.
I've ordered it with the Uni-Loc joint to pair it to my Predator BK-2 butt.
Fit and finish are very nice. The shaft is clean and smooth, unlike the Rhino shafts, which you have to run 5-6 alcohol wipes on them to remove all the black gunk.
The shaft fits the butt pretty flush at the joint.
I've stayed with the default phenolic tip.
The shaft is slightly lighter than the BK shaft – 4.12 oz vs. 4.37 oz – which brings the whole break cue down to exactly 17.5oz, sweet!
It's also a bit thinner, which I find nicer to stroke, especially when breaking from the table bed with a closed bridge.
I'm starting an 8-ball league on Monday, so I've only practised 8-ball breaks with it.
It works great so far. I was expecting more power compared to the original BK shaft,, but they produce about the same power, so the main and only advantage so far is the durability, not that the BK shaft have'nt lasted so far for over 20 years... but I wanted a change and it looks cool as well.
The sound of the hit is nice and muted, similar to the CueTec Cinergy; both (and the Rhino as well) are much nicer when it comes to sound compared to the Revo shaft.
I haven't really done a deflection comparison between both shafts, but it did feel that it deflects less, but it's hard to say just after one session.
All in all, a good shaft (so far), and if you have a cheap/spare butt to fit it to, it can be a great alternative to the expansive top brands. If you don't have a butt, then even getting a full Raven break cue could be a good cheap alternative.
