In Hempstead, New York.

Has anybody been there? Google offers 1,000 reviews with high ratings...but half of those reviews are focused on the bar food.

Any inside intel on this place?

One of the top pool halls in the NYC area owned by Holden Chin, a pretty good pool player himself. I know they had 9 foot AMF tables for years but recently decided to replace them with Diamonds, both 9 footers and bar tables. Very good food and customer services. Lots of leagues and tournaments happening there.

Now that I think about it, it's probably the most well-known pool hall on Long Island. The only other hall I know of is Bayshore Billiards.

There are a couple of other rooms on Long Island, both a bit further east from Bayshore. VIP Billiards and Goodfellas. I play at both Raxx and Bayshore Billiards every week. Raxx is a very good room, they both are actually. The food is great at Raxx and it is a very active room, DJ on the weekends etc. There are some good to very good non-pro players and it does host some tournaments, large and small. I believe Moritz Neuhausen was just there last weekend. Bayshore Billiards changed out their GC's this week, mainly GC1's, for 10 GC VII's. They have some Diamond barboxes in the back for APA and a couple of billiards tables as well.

Great place to play. Half the room are barboxes, the other half are 9' Diamonds with 4.25" pockets. I've played several tournaments there, including Matchroom and Joss Tour events. The owner, Holden Chin, is a fantastic player and a nice guy.

And the Barboxes are also Diamonds, with pockets that seem to be about 4.75

There was a RAAX bar/poolroom in Kingston Ontario that was a nice place to play in. I'm not sure if it's still going as that was some time ago since I was there. They had a raised bar/restaurant, plenty of 9ft tables and awesome food and nice looking waitresses. It was a stand a lone building with 25K sq ft and at the time the owner was paying $2,50/sq ft.

Great side note.
