Hello to all you fellow AZB'rs! I'm always a fan of spreading the news when I find a great playing cue and that cue makers name is.......Richard Hsu! I contacted Bill Grassley at Cornerstone Cues and he invited my girlfriend and I to his home to look at some of his 200 plus cues. :DISCLAIMER: my next comparisons are my opinions and not knocking any other makers products. After narrowing it down to a Ariel Carmeli, Mike Lambros, Bill Schick and the Hsu cues. I'd shot with over a dozen cues this day! Each cues shafts had ivory ferrules. I'll start off by saying I was expecting to not like the Carmeli cue because of the forward balance, not in this case! It played very well and was great looking to boot. But, I got a little to much action with it. (I couldn't control it) my fault, not the cue. The Lambros had a solid hit with feedback, but either the weight or the taper through MY stroke off. Now, the Schick. The Schick is an old titleist conversion. So it's still full spliced with leather wrap and a brass joint but is flat faced. This cue stood out to me. It was plain looking but man did it help me to stroke balls into pockets! (I dont care how dirty that sounds!) Next up was the Hsu cue, it played, for me, as well as the Schick did. This cue has a 3/8x10 flat face ivory joint with ivory ferrules. So it took me another 45 minutes of going back and forth between the 2 cues trying to make a decision....I took the Richard Hsu home. I was just more consistent with this cue. Upon close inspection of the shafts I noticed the growth rings, or grain lines were so close together they almost blended together! And that's both shafts, not 1 tight grain shaft and 1 inferior shaft, both are top notch. Meanwhile, this entire time, close to 3 hours. Bill Grassley was more than accommodating. He would bring cue after cue! Asking us if we needed anything to drink and if we were comfortable. He is a super nice man and very very knowledgeable about the cues he has and past cues he has had! 2 of which were in 1 of my cases and I got the back stories on them. We laughed about that one! Anywho, check RJH/Richard Hsu cues out. And dont hesitate to call Bill Grassley at Cornerstone cues. I found that calling got a faster response than emailing he is a busy busy man and a family man as well. Thanks all for reading, and thank you Bill at Cornerstone cues.
