Re-use or Re-purpose cloth

A little over a year ago, I purchased and installed Simonis 860 on my table. The cloth is still in very good condition.

A little over a month ago I was offered a chance to leave the job I'm in (no I didn't get fired) and move closer to my family.

So, My question is, have you ever attempted to re-use cloth after a move like this? If so, what was the result? I hate the idea of spending the 3 bills replacing relatively new cloth but I'm not about to compromise the quality of play.

Unless somebody gives me a hella argument for re-use, I think that I'm going to invite all of the folks that have played on my table over for one last Hoo-rah and have them sign a 8 x 10 area of the cloth and then have that framed and display it in my new room.

You might be able to sell it to someone with a smaller table who could use it, but if not you may just want to draw out a 16x20 or similar large sized area for the going away signed area. Cooler to have one big framed area than a bunch of little ones, IMO.

I've seen one defunct pool hall that tried to extend the life of the cloth by flipping it. Wear marks were more noticeable.

SImonis cloth only has one playable side. When you pull it, it will be obvious.

I have been a billiard mechanic for over 30 years. if the cloth is in good shape like you say it is then as long as you have qualified people both break it down for moving and set it back up there should be no problem re-pulling the cloth back on. I have done this hundreds of times over the years. NEVER flip the cloth over with simonis there is only one side made to be played on. if you have any questions or need some help PM me

You may be able to reuse the cloth... depends on how the installer did his trim work.

I covered my own table , then we moved & I reused the cloth, but my trim work was done to accommodate that purpose.

Back in the pre Simonis days when only felt was available, cloth off 3C tables was dry cleaned and used upside down on pool tables. Today with the 860 Simonis you can still dry clean the cloth or take it outside and do a little Spring Cleaning by beating the hell out of it on a cloths line (if one is available). The cloth will re-stretch so new rail bolt holes will have to be cut and centering it also is touchy but it's all doable.

It can sometimes be a bit tricky to get the pockets looking as good as the initial install. Other times, you can make it look better than the initial install. It all depends on how good of a job was done the first time, and how good of a job is done the second time.

I don't believe you'll have any issues with the quality of play.

Any other ways to wash a used piece of Simonis? Other than the line beating methods? Any reason why it couldn't be washed in laundry and dryed on low heat?

The cloth can be reused....but I love the idea of having it written on.
Keep the whole cloth and make it a tapestry for your new room....
...not just signatures but pool wisdom.
Tell your friends it has to be tasteful, the family will see it.

Take it to the dry cleaners,if it's standard 860 simonis tell the dry cleaner the blend of the cloth is 80/20 wool/nylon, if you have simonis 860HR let the dry cleaner know it's 90/10 wool/nylon.

You can reuse cloth depending of how it was installed, what make/model table do you have in your home....?

That is an awesome idea.

However, the cloth can be re used no problem if it's in decent shape and is removed carefully.
