No. That will damage the ferrule. Most likely dissolve it. It’ll become gummy.

thanks! boy have i learned A LOT since the original post. email from meucci says don't touch the cue. it's almost 50yo. it's gonna have wear and tear. btw, had several offers. still waiting for right "home"
