Last years drive to the derby

Our roat trip to the derby from north western pennsylvania usually takes about seven hours.

Because of the ice last year it took almost twelve hours.

Most of the way we were under 50 miles per hour & some times down to 20 for miles at a time.

It was still worth the trip & will be this year too.

Safe traveling,

2009 derby

After being from south dakota we were not to worried about driving in snow n ice to get to the Dcc as it was our first year. The snow n ice kinda sucked but it was the downed trees on the interstate and the drivers that were not familliar with the conditions that made it worse. The last 100 miles took us almost nine (yes 9) hours to complete. I know at one point i puuled off to get a soda n use the rest room and i swear there was about 25 cars, trucks, n semis that were following me and pulled off also. Spoke to a few and none were going to Derby, got back on and blazed a trail all the way there. Startin to get really excited about doing it again!!! See ya in a few weeks!!!!

yeah strangley enough it did make the derby more rememberable how can i forget going 25 miles per hour for 90 miles. and going to and from the hotel dodging the down trees. the only bad thing was seeing the lowered attendance because of it. not say i will miss the derby it will take one hell of a storm. and maybe now that the weather is bad maybe by the time the 21st rolls around it will be finished. so snow gods get it all out of your system now please!
