Removing finish

What is the easiest way to remove the finish off of a cue. Would sanding it all off be the best way or is there a chemical to do it easier.

I will say sanding, due to chemical strippers will destroy(melt) plastics and other types of decorative cue parts that are not wood or metal. This also includes the glues used to put cues together and used in veneers.

Scrape the surface of the finish off with a utility blade or carbide paint scraper and then sand the remainer off with sandpaper.
