Removing Radial pin from ebony forearm

I know heat causes ebony to crack... only way I know to remove a pin is to heat it up with a torch.. how can I remove the pin without damaging the ebony?

I've always added the heat in smaller doses than usual. Just a little at a time and you will have a small window of opportunity to pull it out without cracking the ebony.

I've always used a soldering iron. Takes a little longer but I seem to have more control over the process.
