That's easy. Every time the player dogged a shot he'd slam the butt of the cue to the floor.
The bumper compresses and since it can't go up, it goes out and takes the side-wall of the butt-cap with it.
"Man I was just setting my cue down when this happened"....and happened, and happened, etc.

I could use one of those. Bought a Rempe cue, and the buttcap was in the same condition.

Yep, delrin is about the only material that can take the butt slam. The other materials, forget it. Nice work here.

I had a JR9 as one of my first cues.
