Hi everyone, I had on old worthless cue that shoots decent with a Lepro tip. The Lepro did a great job for three years and no complaints from me. I had the idea of replacing it with an Elkmaster since they are supposed to give good draw. The Lepro was worn out, so I tried the Elkmaster. I am 250 lbs. and I could not put a dent in the Elkmaster with my thumbnail and I pressed as hard as I could! I have always heard that Elkmasters were a soft tip... hmmmm. It is medium blue in color, so it looks like it is pre-chaulked. It plays pretty darn good especially when draw is applied. Any comments? Thanks

Just because you can't put a dent in it with your thumb nail doesn't mean it isn't soft COMPARED to other tips.
Have you noticed a huge difference in the way your cue feels since you went from a 3 year old LePro (Most likely hard as a BB) to an Elk Master?
Getting any more or less deflection?

Efren plays with a elktip for a reason. I will put nothing else on my cue.
As far as draw, Just draw more centerball with elk. The tip is so responsive you cannot hit the bottom of the cueball, It will usually jump ship, if hit too hard.. It is not like a moori where you can hit the edges without serious calculation.

I use elk master. It does the job for me very well.
It produces so much spin on the cue ball as compared to other layered tips like moori.
Before I install it, I pressed the tip in between 2 coins in a bench vise for 1 week. It helps the tip not to mushroom.
