Replacing cushions on a 7 ft Brunswick

I have a Brunswick Contender purchased new in 2002. 2 of the cushions are dead.....they are hard as a rock, they kill cue ball speed, and balls rebound off of them at odd angles. The other 4 cushions have plenty of life in them.....I suppose they may have originated from a different manufacturing batch.

Anyway, I'd like to replace all 6 myself. Is there a thorough write-up out there on cushion replacement? And is this a good DIY project....or is it one of those things that is best to hire it done?

What is the cushion profile for this era Brunswick? When searching ebay I am seeing k55, k66, u23....etc.

Any tips or resource links you can share are greatly appreciated.

https://www.classicbilliards.net/cushions-supplies/determine-rail-profile.html might help you determine which profile, probably k55 but measure to be sure. I'd go with superspeeds on a Brunswick.

As far as doing it yourself.. just pay someone, it'll save you a massive amount of headaches. Re-rubbering rails properly is difficult and mistakes can lead to massive issues with playability. Also putting new cloth on the rails (and table, you might as well at this point) isn't easy if you've never done that type of thing before.

Some things are better left to those that do it for a living. Just be sure you hire a qualified mechanic, not some install company.
