Greetings,

Just returned from watching 3 days of non-stop action. Some random thoughts and observations:

Not sure if it has been mentioned but it was announced that the one foot on the floor rule is now if effect. I hope the incident involving Danny Harriman can now be put to rest and does not detract from a great performance by Danny. BTW other players were also climbing on the table before the rule amendment.

The tournament room set-up was great. The only thing that could have improved things would have been to have more bodies in the seats! The IPT might consider dropping off some free passes to the preliminaries at the local pool halls in Chicago. Really a shame that more people are here although I expect attendance to climb in the next day or so.

The Brits are for real and are here to stay along with the Filipinos and Chinese. Here's hoping that the Americans put away their golf clubs and start practicing else they might be lagging behind.

Tony Drago is a fun player to watch......I usually started watching his match which on average took 40 minutes to play and then shift over to another table where the score would be something like 2-2.

Don't you think it would spice up the format if after they are down to the final 18 or 36 they would let the bracket leaders pick who is in their bracket? For instance the overall #1 going into today which I think was Bustamante would pick the first player in his group and then #2 picks etc. Would add a little sizzle to the match-ups me thinks.

One last item......Mike Siegel was claiming that there will be a new format for the first round in the next tournament. I didn't have a chance to verify it with Deno before leaving but assume since Mike has KT's ear there might be some truth behind it. Will post it after the tournament is over.

Nuff said.

Well, so far, after 4 rounds complete there is 1 Filipino (Efren), 1 German (Ortman) and 1 American (Morris) who are in the final 6. The last matches of the day will decide the remaining 3.
