ok.. how about this.. too much favortism and opinion on this question..

i have a mottey.. never played with a tad.. head alot about them.. my opinion is as far was what i experienced and heard that you cannot make a bad choice with either cue.. both hold their value awesome and both are awesome playing cues.. i think your decision is going to come down to what cue you like better.. good luck in your deciding and i think you will be very happy with whatever you choose..

hit is very subjective .. and you haven't mentioned the level of details on either cues ..

I have a Mottey with piloted ivory joint .. it hits great and the workmanship on the cue is outstanding. I prefer the Mottey with piloted ivory joint than SS but I'm not a fan of SS joint.

Similar level TAD is more expensive ... a lot of my friends love TAD. I have a couple of 'em for collection but I generally don't play with them as it hits very different from majority of my other cues. Most people tend to like older TAD over newer ones.

Having said above, I think Mottey cues are more easily obtainable .. as he's still in his prime. TAD .. well he ain't getting any younger and it's not as easy to find a TAD with 4 or more points and if you do, you are going to pay some serious $$$$.

Oh ya .. either cues are going to hit fairly different from your Capone .. my Capone used to have more softer hit.
