Richmond Virginia pool halls

Looks like I'll be spending a couple months in Richmond, Va. Anyone have advice on good halls within the city limits?

"Good halls" being a relative term, by that I mean affordable table time (especially great discounts during off hours), lowkey vibe that makes it easy to practice alone without drama, and the chance for an occassional friendly game.

Cheap drinks wouldn't hurt either!

I forgot to mention. The Virginia State 9-Ball Tournament will be held at the Playing Field on July 22-23.
It is a great tournament and you may want to stop in to watch.
If you do, be sure to say "Hi". I'll be the one with the big camera taking pictures for the TD. :D

Side Pocket - also has a 3 cushion [billiard] table. if you're into 3C or want to try it. Richmond area have some great players.

In terms of cost the Side Pocket is the least expensive and I find it easy to practice there without being hounded for a game during the day. (Of course, there's always a game available there, too.) The Playing Field is the most expensive along with The Triple which has a great restaurant. On the south side of town there's Breakers which isn't bad but the tables aren't kept as well.

If you come by the Side Pocket, I'm usually there for lunch one day a week and run an ACS league on Wednesday nights. Be sure to look me up! Always looking to make new acquaintances from AZ.

Side Pocket is the only place to go to practice alone during the day. They have good rates, good food, and good people. At night, however, beware of karaoke and a possible wait for a table. That's also the place to go for action of any kind. If you want to meet up to play some one pocket, just let me know when.....:D

The Playing Field is the next best bet. There's no blastingly loud bad singing at night, however they are full with leagues on the nine foot tables from Sunday to Thursday nights. They are also the home to Parrot Cues, which is definitely the place to go for any pro shop needs.

Hope this helps

Thanks to everyone for the info on Side Pocket and Playing Field!

Thanks too for the one pocket invitation...but I'm just a mediocre player at best, and pretty much stick to 8 and 9. Got into pool after getting out of music, and needed something to do with my hands. Love to practice, and play friendly games, but I'm afraid I don't give serious players much of a challenge.

Should be in Richmond by July, and in town till January or so. I'm sure I'll cross paths with many of you.
