I posted a thread in the wrong forum asking for advice on how to approach the situation. This goes to show you there are service people still out there that really appreciate thier craft and the people who appreciate them! I want to thank Rick for doing a stand up job and standing behind his work. This is what he had to say about what happened. I think you should all read on and know what kind of guy he really is. Thanks again Rick you have my business undoubtedly from here on out :)

"Hi,

I am the guy who refinished Joe's cue and it was brought to me by a middleman who is 67 years old. He did not give me a urgent time frame. Joe has every right to be mad because he lost his cue sale and I totally thinks he was right to have a expectation of a deadline when he was promised one.

Joe (Jbravo) and I have talked and I gave him the refinish job for free. This Full Splice Darrin Hill with veneers and nice rings came out perfect as I just buffed it today. It looks like a jewel with 3 coats of concept and I am sure Joe will be very happy when all is said and done.

Bamacues is right, refinishing sometimes requires more attention and time than one thinks. On this job after flat sanding very carefully as to not remove Darrin's signature, I resealed with epoxy to have a new sanding surface to make sure I was getting an absolute flat surface. Usually I wait 24 hrs. before I flat sand the epoxy seal coat and prep for the booth. In this case, it was a very humid day and cue felt slightly tacky so I let it go another 24 hours because I did not want to sand prematurely and gum up the works. That was Friday and 24 hrs. turned into the weekend.

On Monday I prepped and sprayed the cue. After spraying the cue I always wait 48 hours before I wet sand and buff. As cue makers know, when performing a procedure you never want to rush your work or take short cuts as you always pay the price later.

As for Darrin Hill, this summer he has taken a few much deserved vacations with Sherry and his daughter and I am sure that Joe called during one of those times.

The lesson to be learned here is the fact that we are living in a small information technology world and if you screw up people are going to talk and your reputation is as only good as your last job completed.

Joe and I have spoke and I apologized about the missed communications and he and I are friends. It is only through adversity that you can see one's true character. Being in business supplying a product or service is not about making money, it is about making long turn relationships and expanding your brand. When you do that you don't have to worry about the money.

I am sure that Joe will continue to use my cue repair service in the future and I am also sure I will get much more than $ 100.00 worth of repeat business from the few hours I spent refinishing Joe's cue.

Much thanks to Mr. H as he saw the post and emailed me. He also PMed Joe to give him some details that were missing.

Rick Geschrey"
