RKC glue instructions

I've got a container of the RKC contact cement. Doesn't give much for instructions on the can.

Should I assume you use it like you'd use weldwood? In other words, put it on both surfaces, wait for it to glaze over (15 minutes or so) and attach.

Also, what are the temperature requirements? Weldwood says parts should be in at least 65 degrees for 24 hours before and after bonding.

Thanks

You got the right idea! Make sure it is not wet at all, it will "slide" if it is. Temp does affect the adhesive, pretty noticeably IMO. Keep the temp right and a good window open for ventilation. I hate that smell and I really dislike getting the adhesive on me, it is solvent based and NO good for your lungs or skin. So happy I dont really work on Diamonds much anymore, thats the only reason I EVER glue down: is out of necessity. Not saying my way is better, but I am saying that I like my lungs and dont want toxic chemicals getting into me via my skin either! :) I know I know, I am sensitive, I won't lie, I dont smoke cigarettes, eat crappy food or drink soda/beer..... All good things IMO, so why ruin it with to much blue adhesive, look at RKC??? NEED I SAY MORE?? I did actually just have to make a donation to his retirement fund and bought 2 gallons of this said "glue" for a pool room in town! Take your time and your preparation/ timing will prevail!

Given I live in the North East and it was 15 out this morning, I think I'll be waiting a bit. Thanks

You could go the other way and perform you glue up and wait the cure time before opening a window.

I am one of those crazies that doesn't adhere to all the safety protocols when doing things though. (don't tell anyone, but my table saw doesn't have a guard on it) Not knocking safety, just don't sweat the small stuff. Survivor bias I suppose....

First thing I do when I get a new angle grinder is remove the guard, you cant use the dam thing with the guard on it, if I had to grind on a flat piece of easy to reach piece of steel I would get a new piece. Its the old piece of steel thats buried and has 6 different things welded to it already that always needs to be ground on.

Try and buy a used angle grinder with it on, nuff said .
