The seller in that link doesn't identify the motor, but it doesn't look like a Penn State to these old eyes. I'm thinking it is an AC motor, hence the AC/router speed control.

But I have been wrong before.

Good point Gary, I didn't even take the "brand" motor into consideration, I just saw that same controller used on that lathe in the other thread and took it for granted that it would work. Thanks for bringing that to my attention and sorry for any mis-leading information on my part.
