Running with the Billiard Football!

It was about ten years ago in 1998 as I was watching a football game and I happened to glance over at my pool table and a thought crossed my mind. Would it be possible to blend two of the largest fan based sporting activities in an exciting way which would combine skill building with fun.

Immediately I started working on the Billiard Football project. My skills and experience suited me perfectly as I had just left the Defense world as a senior support simulation representative for the F-15 Fighter and corporate jet simulators of almost 10 years. I was also a Billiard Congress of America (BCA) Billiard Instructor and an ?A? rated player at the time.

After about three months I finally had the Billiard Football game rules locked down with a beautiful way to simulate football on the billiard grid-iron. Billiards and football, how ironic?hard hitting action.

All aspects of the Billiard Football game were tested and retested for actual simulated play with fellow billiard students I was teaching at the time. I found that it was an EXCELLENT training tool for my students to understand the intricacies of 8-ball and 9-ball strategies and tactics play. In fact the game Billiard Football was used for my own 8-ball training regimen when I competed at the ?A? level billiard leagues in the Dallas, Texas area.

The game of Billiard Football had all the play action as in real life FOOTBALL. The game simulated passing, running, interceptions, fumbles, field goals, two-point conversions, offside penalties, holding penalties, punts, turn-over on downs, out of bounds, and much more.

When NFL licensed billiard balls and later Collegiate teams were introduced the game had a match made in heaven. I immediately purchased all 32 NFL teams for a few $1000 and started little super bowl match ups for students and friends.

It was lot of fun as we were playing and watching a televised football game on TV and we were literally playing along with the scheduled TV game. The added excitement was hearing the announcer on TV call the game play-by-play and it felt as if he were announcing for us. ?Its 3rd and long?he hands off and runs to the right and ?.TOUCHDOWN!?

A few years later I was using the Billiard Football game to train high school students. In 2001, I had founded the first after high school program in the country. The program grew to 13 high schools in the Dallas, Texas area and still operates to this day. This will be my eighth year as the founder and Program Director for the BETTER High School Billiard Program. The program was the pilot program for the BCA and later and still to this day for the Billiard Education Foundation.

Each year in the high school program we have a student/parent ?Super Bowl? Challenge that always seems to be fun. I have seen that billiards has been an excellent bonding activity for the parents and students. It has truly changed the lives of many of the several hundred students who have participated in the high school program.

Well its been 10 years since I have kept the game pretty much a local secret and now with some very good friends and partners we have decided to launch a new business venture. So in 2007 we started up a new company called Billiard Football Enterprises and have designed, patented, have manufactured the newest billiard game and billiard ball sets and scoreboards that has created a buzz here in Texas already.

The game Billiard Football will be launched in January 2009 just in time for the ?Super Bowl?. Our hope is that we can make a difference and help high school students and the industry with this new game. The game is very well suited for tournament or league play and will make a great franchise opportunity for those seeking a new and exciting billiard business.

So wish us luck and we hope to see you running with the Billiard Football!
