Same tables at poolhall.

I hear GREAT WHITE billiards in Calgary closed last week so you might get tables from Paul Hanson. They had about 20 9 fts,not sure what kind.

FX, this might actually be a really hot tip. Great White might be desperate to get rid of these tables in a hurry and could be selling them really cheap, they are mostly 9 foot brunswick medalists and they all play really good. If your interested PM and I can get you in contact with Paul Hanson.

Great post Bigdog! I just worked weekends in a pool hall so I could play for free and you are absolutely right about how hard it is to play when people are always coming up to you asking questions. Even when I wasn't working, people would bug me. It was so bad, I stopped going to this pool hall after I quit working there, even though they were still letting me play for free!!

I used to play in your grandfather's old pool hall in Stockton. A lot of people still call it Boyce's even though the name has been changed umteen times! :D
I just stopped into my grandpa's old poolroom last month. The place looked really bad! Nothing like it once was. Too bad Stockton doesn't have a nice poolroom. I have 13 years left in the Coast Guard before I am eligible for pension, who knows maybe I will open a room in Stockton.
Funny you mentioned people still calling it Boyce's, I was talking to a guy in a bar not long ago, and told him my grandpa used to own the pool hall on El Dorado and he said " you mean Boyce's?" The place hasn't been called Boyce's for over 20 years.

Pool Hall

Yeah, we definitely need a good pool hall! It's a real shame how bad the old Boyce's has gotten! I never saw it when it was really nice but heard that it was fantastic when your grandfather owned it. I almost never go there anymore and after this post, I probably won't ever go back.

Several people have talked about opening a new pool hall up in Stockton, but for some reason a nice place for serious pool players just hasn't materialized. It's a shame too because there are a lot of pretty good players in town. Used to be quite a bit of rivalry between Stockton players and Modesto players. The Modesto players don't have anywhere in Stockton to come and play to challenge Stockton players. I hope we get a place sooner than 13 years! I'll probably be in a care home in 13 years and the only stick I'll be using will be a cane! ;)

Hopefully someone will open a room before then. My dad used to tell me about that rivalry between the guys from Modesto and the Sacramento players as well. He and Kim played each other often when they were teenagers. From what he told me there where a whole bunch of strong players in the area back then.
I know that a nice room for serious players would do well in Stockton, if they still don't have one by the time I am up for retirement from the military I will have to be the one to do it.
Rick where do you usually play at? I am in the area quite often, maybe some time we can meet up and knock the balls around some and have a couple of beers.

Play Some

I usually play at a place called Diamond Billiards in Rancho Cordova. They have 5 nice 4 1/2 X 9 new Diamond tables and a bunch of Olhousens. I also play at the Jointed Cue once in a while. I'd love to get together with you sometime. Let me know when and where and we'll do it. Manteca has a pretty nice place, Bucktooth's. That might be a little closer to you. I could also come over closer to your way. Whatever, I'm flexible.

I could meet you in Manteca sometime or if you want to meet me halfway we could meet up in Dublin, I think its called room with a cue, not a bad place. I will be back in town in a couple of weeks, I will give you a PM sometime.
