Was playing a local tournament and stopped to talk with a young man about his cue. While conversing, he mentioned that he was trying to master the game, "SARATOGA". I had never heard of it, so I asked him to explain.

Long story short, it's a combination of eight ball and nine ball, calling every shot.

After the break, the shooter decides whether to take the solid or striped balls, must shoot them in rotation, leaving the eight ball for last, and, calling the pocket for the eight ball.

I walked away, thinking, "hmmm. Could be a very interesting game."

Has anyone else out there played the game, and if so, how does it change your regular (8 or 9 ball) game?

This could be one hell of a tournament??!!
