Scheduled Matches at DCC?

This was my only disappointment this week. I'm not sure what the reason was for not scheduling the matches as advertised, but not only is it inconvenient for players, but fans as well.

I love going down there and mixing it up with folks, and I appreciate all the hard work it takes to make an event like this happen.

If the three event format just creates a situation that is impossible to schedule better, then fine, just tell folks up front that's the way it's going to be. Please don't promise something that can't be delivered.

Unfortuantely, the program they had just installed to get the matches running smoothly had "CRASHED"!!!

DCC team brought in their most costly computer programmer to fix it, but it wasn't an easy or quick fix. It is going to cost them (DCC) major bucks to fix it. Believe me, players were complaining about it, but DCC team were crying about it... for letting the players down.

It was no fault of their own, and I agree it caused lot of incovenience to the players who had played late and had to get up early. But I can't help but to feel somewhat of mild resentment toward people who just acted like it was the end of the world and DCC was going down the drain because this new program DCC has pured big bucks into crashed without a warning...

Oh, well, C'EST LA VIE, NO?

I have always enjoyed the random draw at DCC every round and they will get the program working better by next year I'm sure.--Leonard

Thanks for the info and you're right, it wasn't the end of the world.

I was on the Accustats feed on Sunday when the program crashed. Poor Ed! I was very interested in what he proposed last year and I really thought it was a great thing he was doing.

I don't know, maybe there is a curse involved here.

Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose! lol

I think I'm going to work on a simple more crash resistant alternative using excel. It'll be my pet project this year. :D

"T" will save the universe!!

Or maybe just a cheap paper backup for it. lol

T,

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to explain  I wasn't directing any jab at you, just a little frustrated, overall.

All week long, I heard about was how beast of tournament DCC is to have single elimination draw each round for almost 400 players. I don't think many realize, but DCC format requires a new random draw for each round- with buy backs. So, they cannot start to draw for the next round until the last matches are completed and all the re-buys have been paid:frown: I wish there was an easier way, but it is a complete nightmare! Especially dealing with hundreds of players... And when the program crashed, it was murderous.

Hey, if you can figure out a way to run it easily and cheaper, you might even have a great chance of having one of the room named after you, like "T's Action Corner", lol.
