What's the difference between all these lines besides price. Do any play better then others. Are they balanced similarly. Guessing all use schon shaft which I've been told
hasn't changed much. In over 30 years.

You sir, are about to get as many differing opinions as there are Schon owners. The judgement you solicit is purely subjective and as such can never be answered with blanket certainty. I can say that I own an LTD. The play and hit seem similar to other Schons but do any two, three, four or more cues actually hit the same....No.... they cannot possibly. The differences may be subtle and indiscernable but they will exist. I think that Schon puts pride of workmanship into every cue they build. Most times I think the choice of which model is entirely dependent upon eye appeal.

From the Schon web site...

We offer 6 collections of cues, Schon STL, Schon CX, Schon SP,SchonLTD,Schon Elite and Schon Unique.

Schon STL is a collection of 21 cues which are the classic favorites from all our years of cuemaking, a combination of the R series, the SP series, the SL series and the ST series.

Schon CX is a collection of cues made exclusively for Cuestix International and may only be purchased through a Cuestix dealer.

Schon SP are special cues which are not made on a regular basis. There is no set number and no naming system. The edition could be 1 or 2 cues or 30 cues.

Schon LTD cues are special editions made in small lots of 12 cues or less, one time only.

Schon Elite are cues which are made in an edition of no more than 7 cues, one time only.

Schon Unique are one of a kind cues.

Goose,

Like to describe it this way. If you purchased a Schon cue and walked into a pool room and saw the exact same cue (or several of them) would you be upset? Buying the more limited cues gives you the opportunity to virtually never see another.

Frankly I don't care. There is another six windows Schon in our pool room. Inlays are different colors. Mine is a one of a kind revision. After playing with his cue, there is no difference in hit. Mine has no wrap so the "feeling" is not the same as the Linen on his. His is heavier. Took me a few shots to get used to the extra length in the cue ball travel.

If you have extra money burning a hole in your pocket, buy a more limited Schon. Get two shafts regardless. If you just have to, because your friends tell you to, buy an OB, Preditor or whatever aftermarket shaft. The inexpensive Schon cues and shafts play every bit as well as the top of the line!!!!!
