I see on AZ very often that Schon only marked the joint collars in 1993 and a lot of interest in early Schon cues from the "Bob Runde era".

Schon I gather was founded by Bob with partner Terry Romine. Bob was involved with every Schon cue made during the twelve years he was there. I understand he sold out to Evan Clarke in late 1992 early 1993.

In looking at the early Schon's I see many, many for sale where the joint collar is marked "Schon" or Schon 13 or Schon 12.75 and even Schon 12.50.

In researching AZ for early Schon's I had understood that Schon only marked their name on the joint collar for only one year i.e. 1993. Then in 1994 they started marking their name above the joint collar like we see current production cues today.

I recently enquired about a cue listed as a 1990 that had joint collar markings. I queried that date and the seller told me that he'd researched this with Schon and John Fuhrman from Schon told him Schon put their name on the collar from 1987 till 1994. The change being made to stop copying. He also said that Bob Runde was there when they first did the CNC rounded point cues.

I guess I'm asking for feedback/confirmation as I see often stated on AZ that Schon only marked the joint collars in 1993. Thanks.

The blue book of pool talks about this under Schon section...and confirms it. I also had a 93 and was marked as u describe. It was one hell of a good shooting cue too!
Here's the link where they describe it.
