I usually break to the left of the head spot and I noticed that I scratch in the side pocket ( left) at a very high percentage and it's not necessarily kicked in. How can I correct this.

Bounce back break

You are essentially bouncing off the head ball with the exact spin or lack of it to make a perfect bank off of the head ball into the side pocket. More high spin you would go forward, more low spin you would bounce back of the side pocket. Make either change and see which result you like best. A half tip above center usually is about enough to overcome this effect and leave the cue ball near the center. The trouble is most players are concerned with hitting hard on the break when they should hit only as hard as they can accurately hit. Hit with the best speed you can control then gradually work on more speed. Speed without accuracy is worthless. No break is a good break if you scratch.

Just my opinion.
