I did not know where to post this. so if i put it in the wrong spot i am sorry.

Last year a friend from my area sold a rambow cue on ebay. No we are not trying yo get it back. He is glad he sold it i guess. Even though he only got about $700.00 for it. The reason i am looking for the buyer is i have some additional info that he might like to know about the cue. This cue does have somewhat of a famous history. So if anybody from here bought it please PM me and i will give you a litle history on the cue........like i said. All i want to do is give some info on it and nothing else................mike

hey mike. maybe if you post your friends ebay name.. we can look at his feedback and maybe determine wich ebay names are forum members and if we can figure that out.. maybe we will be able to figure out if anybody here or anybody we know bought it..

Good idea Chris... not sure he would give it out anyway. I do know that it came from a place outside of Albany called DElmar NY..SO maybe somebody can remember it......mike

$700 for a Rambow off of eBay??? Are you sure??? Show me another one for that price I bet 50 people would be lined up for it. Those numbers don't sound right. Are you sure it wasn't $1500 or more??? I bought a couple of them off of eBay last year and paid dearly for them, not $700!!! I guess it must be timing.

Also, many of Rambow's cues had the customer's name written on the forearm under the finish. What were the initials??? Anything to help you locate the buyer. I'm sure they would want to know the info you are trying to share, especially if it makes the cue have more value. Just a thought.

The gentleman who the cue was made for is named Joe Canton. Joe was a local professional who used that exact cue to beat Irving Crane in the very heated finals of a world or national championship. don't remember which it was.

As the story goes, Joe beat Irving in the finals of this tournament. Afetr they both signed their scorecards someone from the audience pointed out a discrepency in the score. The score keeper forgot to deduct a scratch that Joe had made. Joe then walked back over to the undisturbed table and picked up his cue and made the necessary ball. From there, Irving Crane went ballistic threatening to sue everybody in sight. Since 1st place back then was only $2500.00 and the promoters did not want or have the time or money to fight a long drawn out lawsuit they decided after 2 days of fighting and bickering back and forth to play a rematch.
Joe then proceeded to lose the rematch and came back to his pool hall and spent roughly $500.00 to put up a lighted sign that stated "Joe Canton" uncrowned champion, We have a large black and white poster in our local pool room of Joe shooting with the cue that was sold.
I went back and asked the guy who sold it on ebay and he swears it went for only $700.00. He also claimed that the weight was somewhere around a 21oz cue...so that is the story about this cue which was told to me by #### leonard over on Billiards Digest CCB. I have know #### leonard for over 40 years and trust his word..............mike

The next time he comes into the pool hall i will ask him for his name and see what he says...................mike
