Segan Cues - Joint/Thread size?

Interesting. Yeah, I know - much ado over nothing really. Sorry about that part. I am definitely buying some spare shafts, that's for sure. :) But, is that even the correct way to count the threads?

A few years back I was going to buy one of those cues from J&J but didn't exactly because of this joint thread issue. Well to be honest, for me it was an issue, to someone else maybe not so much. Also held off buying an Omen cue because of that. Was a really nice cue, and shafts are available for that. I already have cues with 5 different shaft sizes and would like to cut that back, and for sure am not looking for another cue with another thread size.

Well, the reply from Schon was from the sales dept (which I find to be bullshit to begin with, for a technical spec question) and they basically said, "We have no idea how the cue was made, since Evan was not with Schon at the time." Which I doubt is true, there must makers there who everything about the Segan cue. However, they apparently have no phone number for talking to anyone knowledgeable about anything custom.

Guess I am on my own. Schon does seem to have any interest in helping anyone.

Having been to the Schon shop a few times and talked to people...they don't really have departments...when I was there it was like 3-4 guys making cues. It is not a big operation at all. So I wouldn't put much stock into whatever the reply was labelled as.

Also not surprised they have no idea. I've been to Schon and I went to Segan once and met Evan when they were just getting started building cues there. I don't believe there was any connection between Schon and Segan other than Evan. He was very much doing his own new thing in a new space.

Have you tried a standard radial thread shaft on it? I remember talking with Evan about this pin but can't remember what exactly he said about it and if it was compatible with anything else. Sorry, wish I had a better recollection of our conversation.

No it's all good. Appreciate your reply. Sure, I know it is a unique design, basically a slightly smaller version of a standard radial ball thread. It is the same TPI as a standard 3/8-10 Radial, like predator or anyone else uses, but it is a smaller dia. Instead of 3/8th inch (.375), it is more like 21/64 inch (.332) ish. Or was that 23/64...? :) lol Anyway... when I think about it I realize that this smaller diameter pin will give the butt and shaft more wood at the join, which might account for its rather astounding feel.
