Is there any reading material on any of the Internet sites that discuss the shaft joint collars?
Specifically, I am interested in learning more about the insert materials than can be used "INSIDE" OF the outside joint collar of the shaft and which properties you can expect from each type material. I have to assume that wood is the softest material that would be used for the joint on the shaft. It would be great to read or hear about the materials that are used for the outside joint collar and what their properties are.
I'm not sure if I am explaining myself well enough but maybe you can ask me some more questions and I can explain it better.
(I am also talking only about flat-faced joints. )
One more thing. Is Micarta a commonly used insert, inside of phenolic collars? and what is the supposed effect of such?
Thanks,
JoeyA
