As chief bottle washer and mailman at a prestigious university and medical school i have some perks
This morning after sorting the mail i had 3 Sports Illustrated magazines for people who are no longer here.
As i'm going thru the lineup i see Shane Van Boening story by L. Jon Wertheim same writer of Kid Delicious
book and recent 60 Minutes piece on Shane. It's in March 23 Volume134. Pretty good article.
 
That piece of shit rag is still around? I thought they just did the swimsuit issue, is it that time of the year already?

Fantastic that Shane got some press, even if it’s from these douchebags.
 
I’m just not a fan of this journalist. It’s okay to have an agenda to bolster the image of the sport. I just don’t like dishonest narratives. If you can’t sell it with the truth, it’s not worth selling. In this case I think there’s a lot in pool worth selling which is what makes this a shame to me.

Depending on who uses it the term is a compliment or insult.

It is usually used as a derogatory term for people with a touch of empathy.
Possibly to be aware of someone or something else that is not in step with one's own beliefs.
People that are considered "woke" used to be called snowflakes, a term that has ridden off into the sunset.
A certain subset likes catch phrases.
These catch phrases come and go and are replaced by other catch phrases.

i don't want to go NPR, but let's just agree to the difference between how things were presented in media 20 years ago and how things are presented now. that difference is pretty much what is considered "woke", and pretty much a good quick definition the term.

It's pretty watered down now as a term. It started out being about people on the far left fringe that were perpetually and vocally outraged about everything. Wanting Gender neutral bathrooms in elementary schools etc. Now if you buy an electric vehicle or hire a neurodivergent employee you've joined the "woke mob"

I never cared you were gay until you started shoving it down my throat...
Do I agree with it? No. But it's your choice. I don't think you should get special treatment because of it.

I never cared what color you were until you started blaming me for your problems...I am not racist simply because I am white or i dont agree with your socialist ideals.

I never cared about your political affiliation until you started condemning me for mine... I am not a bad person because I believe in the Constitution.

I never really cared for where you were born until you wanted to erase my history and blame my ancestors for your problems...

Don't tell me you want to take my guns away because you believe society will be safer. The more guns are removed from the citizen, the more dangerous the government becomes. And at the same time, you want to defund the police. That proves to me you don't give a damn about the safety of the public...only power.There is a simple answer... start holding all public officials accountable for their actions. Qualified or diplomatic immunity must go.

You know, I never even cared if your beliefs were different from mine until you said my beliefs were wrong.

But now I care! My patience and tolerance are gone! I am not alone. Millions of you feel the same way I do.

Turn the above statements 180 deg and that is the definition of woke. You know, living in a woke society is like owning a home in a HOA. You will have someone, who thinks they are better then you, constantly telling you how to live your life.
