Shipping experiences overseas

A bit of searching left me hit a few thousand hits but none conclusive.
I've been looking for advice on the best / safest way to ship cue(s) overseas. (USA to Netherlands)

Also, are there any more taxes or fees I have to take into account when 'bringing' cues into the country?

I've shipped a cue from the Netherlands to USA using TPG Post and USP -- it took me 13 days to get it, and there were no taxes or fees. Note though, my cue went in the opposite direction; Netherlands to the US.
